It’s probably worth telling you that I can be
really impatient. I’ve wanted to start a blog for years actually, so that may
lead you to believe I’m patient. Unfortunately I’ve tricked you, I’m not. I was
lazy though and I couldn’t come up with a concept to back. (Actually I came up
with two, but for now the other concept will remain on the shelf while I try to
live a healthier life.) This brings me to the topic of my post. My camera is
sitting in my friend’s apartment and I am unable to get it. As much as I would
love to share my adventures with chicken chili, I want to give you the full
experience with pictures. So we shall save that for another day (and next time
I will try to measure, I’m really bad about that sometimes). However, I really
want to get this blog rolling. So, I am going to share some food pictures with
you of things that I have done in the past two years. Some pictures are from
farmers’ markets and the rest are of things that I probably won’t be making any
time soon. I know I’m being a tease, but I figure this is a way for you to get
to know me, or at least how I used to be.
Beautiful berries from a farmers’ market a few years back.
Lovely heirloom tomatoes (here is my tip for all of you tomato lovers, towards the end of the season go to farmers’ markets and see if anyone will sell you their seconds. Honestly, I can’t tell the difference between the seconds which for me were $2.00 a pound last year versus the more expensive tomatoes. Buy up a lot of these guys and make tomato soup (or pasta sauce or whatever) and freeze it, in the winter its like frozen summer gold.)
I actually went to a community run farm for class once and helped pick produce, isn’t it beautiful?
"Smoky Turkey Shu Mai in a Sweet Pea Broth" delicious! From Blue Ginger by Ming Tsai. And below is my fried turkey won ton, I normally make them into a soup, but there were so few and I decided to treat myself.
Ok, this is such a trashy cake (in the best way possible of course), and I love it. One of me dear friends wanted a peanut butter chocolate cake for her birthday (really I think she just wanted a bag of peanut butter M&Ms and some Reese’s). So I made her this creation which is out of control. I believe I put peanut butter chips into a chocolate cake batter and then in between the layers are pieces of regular sized Reese’s peanut butter cups- they melted a little. The whole thing is coated with chocolate icing and topped with mini Reese’s and cut up pieces of regular Reese’s. Also, I just feel that I should let you all know that I made this in my dorm’s kitchenette. I’m hard core like that.
I like to make chocolate cakes for whatever occasion; this
was for a friend’s birthday.
Like I said, I like to make chocolate cakes (always from scratch) this one was for my friend’s party, which happened to fall on groundhog’s day.
One of my creations- Chinese Five Spice Applesauce Muffin.
Sorry for the poor photo quality of the muffin. Apparently I only take pictures of chocolate cakes and I wanted to even it out a little.
I can't wait till I get my camera back and I can start sharing my new adventures in the kitchen!
